Before H1 Writing

Richard Lowe became inspired by an idea while attending the University of Massachusetts as a journalism student. He worked as a field technician to a graduate student studying a threatened species of turtle, and found the work fascinating. 

With radio telemetry equipment to track the project’s turtles in and out of swamps, he plotted their movements using GPS. He found nests by following trails of thread tied to female turtles’ carapaces through thick wetlands and forests during egg laying season. At night, he tracked hatchlings with UV lights.

The paper being written by the graduate student was, understandably, full of technical terminology specific to the research. Richard saw the project as an exciting adventure that almost anyone would like to read about, but immediately identified that most people would not and could not read the paper that would be published by the project.

After graduating, he struck out into the word of business inspired by the idea of taking a technical paper and turning it into something that the everyday public could enjoy. At the time, he did not know how to make that dream a reality. He began a 14-year career in the financial sector, first as a futures broker and then as an IAR. He learned about all aspects of investing, including the absurdities of some structured assets, like credit default swaps.

Later, he went into business for himself as an online marketer in the legal cannabis space. He realized the significance of introducing a new commodity to the economy, saw the passion of cannabis entrepreneurs as they tried to navigate a severely restricted industry, and watched in fascination as a deeply prejudicial stigma began to be dismantled.

Passion, inspiration, and knowledge, all led to H1 Professional Writing.
